Scripture – “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:4 NIV
Observation – God is telling dads not to wear their kids out with lots of high expectations and rules, instead to bring them up to know how God wants us to live.
Application – If you don’t know Jesus you may think that the Christian life is all about rules, what is permissible and what is forbidden but that is not the case. Jesus brings people close to him and shows us why he instructs us the way he does and gives us understanding and wisdom on how to live so that we can experience peace and joy and live with purpose while we are here. He doesn’t exasperate us and he doesn’t want us to exasperate our kids.
Prayer – Lord you are kind and loving, help us to imitate you. Amen.
