Scripture – “Doom has come upon you, upon you who dwell in the land. The time has come! The day is near! There is panic, not joy, on the mountains. I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices. I will not look on you with pity; I will not spare you. I will repay you for your conduct and for the detestable practices among you. “ ‘Then you will know that it is I the LORD who strikes you.”

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – The people of Judah were living as they pleased and God said it was time for judgement. God was going to judge them fairly, according to their conduct and for their detestable practices.

Application – God is going to judge you too, according to your conduct and your detestable practices. You will probably respond the way everyone responds, “But I’m a good person”. You honestly may think you are good, no one can judge how you view yourself. God sees you differently, in Isaiah 59:2-4 he says “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things. No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.” If God judged you today based on the Ten Commandments how would you do? Have you kept all of them? Have you ever lied, stolen, blasphemed God’s name or looked at someone with lust in your heart? If so you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer and cannot claim you are good and pure and deserve to go to heaven. If you humble yourself and admit your sin and ask God to forgive you he will. Even though your sins have separated you from him he loves you and values you. The value of something is determined by how much someone is willing to pay. He values you so much that he was willing to give his son’s life in exchange for your soul. 1 Peter 1:18-19 says,  “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:15-16, “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.” If you have never confessed your sins to Jesus and asked him to forgive you I pray you would do it today. The end is coming and you do not want to face God’s judgement on your own, you need Jesus who knew no sin, to become sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for us to pay for our sins so that we could be forgiven and be in a right relationship with you. Amen.
