Scripture – “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.”
Proverbs 28:13-14 NIV
Observation – If we recognize our sins and ask for forgiveness God will show us mercy and forgive us. If we hide our sins and make excuses for them instead of taking responsibility success will be elusive and we will experience a troubled life.
Application – Often times when the topic of confessing every sin we commit to God and striving to live a holy life comes up in conversations people will say, “no one is perfect” or “we can’t walk around questioning and second guessing everything we say and do”. Proverbs 28:13-14 states that we shouldn’t conceal any sins or harden our hearts because we won’t prosper. Leviticus 11:45 says, “I am the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.”
This is God’s desire for us because he loves us and wants us to prosper. He knows we aren’t perfect, that is why Jesus died on a cross for us. Instead of throwing your hands up in frustration begin the habit of confessing yours sins to God and asking him for help. When you tremble before God you will be blessed.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for us and allowing us to come to you to say we are sorry when we don’t handle life like you want us to. Thank you that you desire to bless us and prosper us. Amen.
