Scripture – “If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength!”
Proverbs 24:10 NIV
Observation – God says you are weak if you give up when trouble comes into your life.
Application – How can you remain strong when obstacles and problems litter your path? Call on the creator of the universe who loves you to help you. Psalm 121 says “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Call on people to help you, earlier in Proverbs 24 God says, “A wise man has great power and a man of knowledge increases strength; for waging war you need guidance and for victory many advisors” Don’t quit, keep going, James 1:2-4 and James 1:12 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
In summary, call on God for help, ask wise people for their opinion and don’t ever give up.
Prayer – Lord, you tell us that if we falter in times of trouble how small is our strength. We freely admit that we are weak without you but you have told us we are not alone and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Help us to remember that all day today. Amen.
