Scripture – “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.”
Revelation 20:12-13 NIV
Observation – John tells us twice in these verses that everyone that has ever lived will be judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
Application – Imagine how differently you would live if everything you did was being recorded on video and you watched it with a group of people that would judge you based on what they were watching. I’m sure, if we had the opportunity to defend our actions, we would all say, “But, you didn’t see what that person did to me before I said that…” or “I wanted to do the right thing but…..” We can’t carry out everything God wants us to do on our own, we need to abide in Jesus everyday and be in constant communication so we do the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, please help us to see you in all things we do today so that we speak the truth in love, put others ahead of ourselves and trust you to care for us. Amen.
