Scripture – “Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.” Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭96‬:‭10‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Observation – These verses from Psalm 96 inform us three times that God is going to judge us.

Application – Will you be found guilty on judgement day? Let’s see…. Have you ever lied? Have you stolen anything? Have you taken the Lord’s name in vain? Have you looked at a person of the opposite sex with lust? If so, you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer and will be judged, found guilty and sentenced to hell for all eternity. The reason the Gospel is called the good news is that Jesus chose to die on a cross 2,000 years ago to pay for your sins so you don’t have to. He allowed his body to be beaten and he took your place so that you could be forgiven and declared innocent and righteous on judgement day. You can receive this pardon by trusting that Jesus died for you personally, by repenting of your sins and choosing to live as Jesus as your king versus you sitting on the throne of your own life and you “calling the shots”. Don’t wait, we don’t know the day or the hour of Jesus return.

Prayer – Lord, thank you for dying for us so that we could be forgiven and live an honest clean life. Amen.
