Scripture – “In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭71‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – The psalmist was trusting in God’s righteousness to save him not his own.

Application – Our salvation is not based on our righteousness but on God’s, consider the following verses from Titus  3:4-6 “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,”. God desires us to live righteous lives but we are not saved because of our righteousness because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Our good deeds are insufficient for salvation but God in his mercy sent Jesus to die for us so that we could be saved.

Prayer – Jesus, thank you for laying down your life and paying for our sins so that we could have an opportunity to be saved and live a whole life on earth and in heaven with you for eternity.
