Scripture – “Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.”
Proverbs 27:23-24 NIV
Observation – God instructs us to know the condition of what he has entrusted to us and to pay close attention to our assets and resources. Riches are not guaranteed and neither are our positions and opportunities to create wealth.
Application – Many people review their financial situation several times a week or even each day and they tell themselves they are giving careful attention to their herds. Ask yourself, “Am I checking my finances so I can faithfully manage what God has entrusted to me or has my wealth become my source of security?
Prayer – Lord Jesus, you have provided for us so that we can live and give. Help us to use our wealth for the purpose you intended and as our source of safety and security. Amen.
