Scripture – “Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things.”
Proverbs 13:21 NIV
Observation – If you engage in sinful behavior your life will be marked by trouble. If you live a good life that honors God you will be rewarded with good things.
Application – If you are experiencing a troubled life it could be coming from many different places. You could be undergoing persecution because you love God, it might be that you are being affected by living in a sinful world or it might be that you are reaping what you sow. If gossip, lie, deceive, lust in your heart, worship wealth and respond to situations that don’t go your way in anger you are going to have your fill of trouble. What is the solution to this troubled life that Proverbs 13:21 says you have brought on yourself? Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” When you care more about what God thinks than anything else you will pray this prayer and he will answer it. He will give you a new heart when you confess your sins and accept Jesus’ death as payment for those sins. He will give you the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide you so you can live a righteous life and you will then you will be rewarded with good things.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, I pray for my friends and family that have brought trouble on themselves by rejecting you and placing themselves on the throne of their life. I pray they confess their sins and receive your forgiveness and live the righteous life you desire for them. Amen.
