Scripture – “But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Isaiah 43:1-2 NIV
Observation – God describes three dangerous situations, passing through water, passing through rivers and walking through fire and he promises, in every situation, that he will be with Israel because he created them and redeemed them.
Application – Often times we are disappointed and discouraged as we find ourselves in difficult situations. Take heart and remember that God didn’t promise us that life would be easy, he promised that he would be with us the entire time because he loves us and has redeemed us.
Prayer – Lord, when we are in the middle of a difficult scary time remind us to lift our eyes to heaven and ask for your peace and your presence to help us pass through with faith.
