Scripture – “Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”
1 John 2:22-23 NIV
Observation – If you deny Jesus is the Christ you deny both the Father and the Son. You can’t say I believe in God and reject Christ because the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is God. Any “god” without Christ is a false god that doesn’t exist.
Application – Some Christians believe that Jewish people worship the same Father but that Jews just don’t believe in Jesus. That is impossible because no one who denies the Son has the Father. Jewish people are now worshipping a false god that resembles God but rejects Christ so they have denied the true Father and replaced Him with a false god that allows them to worship how they want to worship and maintain their Jewish identity. Christians need to stop referring to Judéo-Christian values, this type of language conveys a partnership that we are on the “same page” which makes a Jewish person feel like they are in good standing with God. This is a cowardice position we are taking as followers of Jesus because we know the truth. We need to start sharing the gospel with our Jewish friends so that they can be saved and experience the joy of knowing the one true God. If you are uncomfortable reading this you should be. Telling a Jewish person that Jesus is the only way is going to be a tough conversation so you need to ask the Holy Spirit to give you boldness, kindness and the right words and questions to say and ask. Don’t go by yourself to have this discussion. Jesus wants you to talk to your Jewish friends about him.
Prayer – Lord, this life is short and eternity is forever. Help us to remember this every time we get scared. Amen.
