Scripture – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬, ‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – In both verses 3 and 23 Peter states that God has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus and that the believers he is writing to have been born again through the living and enduring word of God.

Application – Have you been born again? There is a difference between believing that Jesus is Lord and that he died on a cross to pay for your sins and receiving him as Savior and Lord of your life. Belief can mean that you are in intellectual agreement that Jesus is the eternal Son of God and that he came to earth, for the primary purpose, to die on a cross for humanity’s sins so we could be forgiven. It is quite another thing to de-throne yourself as king of your own life, ask him to sit on the throne of your life and then to bow down in submission with the understanding that you are no longer your own, that you have been bought with a price and the life you now live is through faith in him. You now obey the Lord, not your own selfish desires and whims. Can you see the difference? If you are only in intellectual agreement that Jesus is Lord but you haven’t received Jesus as your Lord you are outside the Kingdom of God and if you don’t repent and receive him as Savior you will experience Matthew 25:41-46.

Prayer – Lord, I pray for all the people in the world that believe but haven’t received you. I pray they surrender to you today, that they wouldn’t care what the traditions of their denominations say but would care what your word says. Amen.
