Scripture – “These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.”
Matthew 10:5-7, 14 NIV
Observation – Jesus commands his disciples to go to the surrounding areas and proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is near. He tells his disciples if people don’t listen to them that they should leave.
Application – God commands us to share the Gospel, this is our privilege and duty. God is responsible for the results. Christians say, “I led someone to Christ” but Jesus says in John 6:44, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day” We are absolutely called to share the Gospel and make disciples but let us be careful not to exalt ourselves in the process and instead be grateful that he chooses to use us but that God is responsible for saving people.
Prayer – Lord, there are so many ways for all of us to spend, invest or waste our time today. I pray that you use all of your servants to share the good news with those that are perishing. Amen.
