Who do you think is going to help you?

Scripture – “Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the Lord that one gets justice.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God is telling us the truth about how most people solve their problems. They present their case to someone in authority and neglect to share their problems with God. God is reminding us that he is the one that that has the power to dispense justice.

Application – Edgar Guest wrote a poem “Don’t Quit”. It is a beautiful poem about perseverance and I believe it is true. We often rely on people in high positions, “it’s not what you know but who you know” and our own grit, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” to achieve our objectives. God loves relationships, discipline, hard work and perseverance but not as an alternative to seeking him but in addition to asking him to act on our behalf. It is all part of God’s recipe for victory. God doesn’t give us a pep talk and send us out like by ourselves in this world. He walks with us and is with us the entire time.

Prayer – Lord, forgive me when I go in my own strength and power. Give me humility and wisdom to seek you first and to talk with you all day. Amen.
