Scripture – “Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.”
Proverbs 25:26 NIV
Observation – When a person compromises and gives way to wicked people they become contaminated like a polluted well. No one wants to drink from a well that is dirty.
Application – What causes you to give way to the wicked? Is it fear, lust, greed, what others think of you, your position, pride, anger, laziness or gossip? I’m pretty sure that fear and greed have to do with not trusting God to protect and care for us. Others like lust, laziness, gossiping, pride and anger have to with not acknowledging God as God. The latter can happen almost without thinking before you speak or act. This is why Proverbs 3:5-6 is such a foundational verse for people. If a person meditates on these verses all day they will avoid become a polluted well.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, please keep us pure so we can be used by you and live lives of joy and not regret. Amen.
