Scripture – “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
James 2:17 NIV
Observation – If you claim to be born again and that you love Jesus but you live a self-centered life you may have a said faith instead of a real faith.
Application – 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” If you identify as a follower of Jesus and your life looks exactly the same as it did before you claimed you gave your life to Jesus, why is that? If James says that faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead and Paul says that if anyone is in Christ the new creation has come, the old has gone and the new is here, why haven’t you been changed? It could be that you aren’t saved and you just had an emotional moment and cried out in desperation but once the fear passed you didn’t want Jesus anymore or you may have not surrounded yourself with people that love God and can show you what it looks like to walk with Jesus everyday. The good news is Jesus loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you. If you don’t really know him, repent today and truly give your life to him. If you do know him but aren’t going to church and reading the Bible with someone find a friend and ask them if you can go to church with them this Sunday. You will be glad you did, and so will God.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, I pray that you stir up the hearts of people so that walk as you did, amen.
