Scripture – ““Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Don’t talk bad about a person to someone who has a relationship with them. If you do, you will soon find out that you made a big mistake because you will pay for it.

Application – For some inexplicable reason we, in our arrogance, talk bad about an employee to their boss, we criticize someone’s child directly to their parent or we bash a person to their friend. I don’t know what we are hoping to achieve in this situation but the result is very predicable. The person we are speaking with thinks we are fools for excising poor judgement in choosing to discuss this matter with them and they are right. God provides us with a very specific process in dealing with people with whom we are having a problem. ““If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Prayer – Lord, please help us when we are emotional to hold our tongue so that we don’t slander people to those you care about them. Amen.
