Scripture – “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
Psalms 91:1-4 NIV
Observation – The writer is telling us that God’s faithfulness will be our shield and rampart.
Application – Several years ago I was talking with God about things he wanted me to do. I expressed to him that I knew he was faithful but I was concerned about my ability to carry out what he had called me to do. He promised me that I would wake up each day with energy and enthusiasm so I would never have an excuse to not obey his commands. It is God’s faithfulness that we rely on, not our own. If we are trusting in ourselves, we are in trouble and have great reason for concern.
Prayer – Lord, great is thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see, all I have needed they hand hast provided, great is your faithfulness Lord unto me. Amen.
