Scripture – “He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Children are completely dependent on their parents and rely on them for food, protection, clothes, a place to live, an education, mercy,  justice, discipline, encouragement, love, care when they are sick….literally everything. If we don’t see God as this type of Father we will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Application – Most children don’t worry about house payments, 401k performance, their health, the stability of their jobs or if they are going to have enough food to eat, that is why children are carefree. Literally free from the cares of this world. Jesus says we should be just like this, we should humble ourselves and understand that God loves us and is going to take care of us so we don’t have to run Monte Carlo scenarios every night to see if we are going to have enough to retire. (A Monte Carlo scenario (or Monte Carlo simulation) for retirement is a way of stress-testing whether your retirement savings are likely to last, using thousands of randomized market outcomes instead of assuming a fixed rate of return.) You should obviously plan but not obsessively worry, because God is going to care for you.

Prayer – Lord, I pray we would look to you as a child looks to their father to take care of them. Amen.
