Scripture – “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV
Observation – God says that there is an appropriate time to take action and an inappropriate time to take action.
Application – Some decisions are easy. Everyone knows that you don’t have a picnic during a rainstorm. Not everything is that plain and simple. Most decisions we make require wisdom so we do the right thing at the right time. Where does this wisdom come from? Often times wisdom can be obtained through experience, watching others, reading books or watching videos. Other times we need to hear directly from God because he claims in Proverbs 8, that “By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just” He also claims in James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” God would love to hear from you today and tells us that those who seek him find him, when they seek him with all their heart. Wouldn’t that be great to hear from God today?!
Prayer – Lord, we like Solomon, are little children who don’t know how to carry out our duties, please give us wisdom so that we can make decisions that bring you joy and make other people’s lives more pleasant. Amen.
