Scripture – “Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!””
John 21:18-19 NIV
Observation – Jesus’ view of success is much different than ours. He tells Peter that he would glorify God by how he died. Based on Peter’s reaction in the following verses Peter thought that maybe there was a different way to bring glory to God with his life.
Application – God has a different plan for everyone. His plan for you may be to die for him, his plan for someone else (Read John 21:20-23) maybe to live a long life. Don’t compare your life with others and don’t try and get everyone else to do what you are doing. Be overjoyed that God is using you for his kingdom. Amen.
Prayer – Lord, thank you that you have counted us worthy to participate to building your kingdom. Amen.
