Scripture – ““If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
John 14:15-17 NIV
Observation – Jesus says if we love him we will demonstrate our love by obeying his commands. The Father will then send us the Holy Spirit who will guide us in all truth and live in us.
Application – When a person knows they sinned against God by breaking his commands and they feel bad about it and they further understand that their only means of forgiveness is by accepting Jesus’ death of the cross for the payment of their sins and are moved to confess their sins and give their lives to Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in them. The Holy Spirit will guide them in all truth. This is difficult to understand if you haven’t experienced it but it is an awesome way to live because you are not alone, the creator of the universe is living in you and with you.
Prayer – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, thank you for loving us and being with us every single day. Amen.
