Scripture – “It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God and people honor the person that avoids a fight but every fool loves to argue.

Application – Proverbs 21:2 says “All a man’s ways seem right to him but the Lord weighs the heart”. The fool will tell you that he is quick to quarrel because he cannot tolerate falsehood or because he loves people so much that he has to convince them their way is wrong. He is willing to damage or ruin relationships with this motivation and after the argument is finished he will tell you he acts this way because he cares. The Lord see through this, God knows his heart. God knows he is a fool and he argues because of his ego, to elevate himself in his own eyes. The honorable person avoids an argument, they try has hard as they can to see the other person’s view and work out problems with patience and love. The next time you feel anger rise up in you and you want to fight ask God to help you avoid strife and avoid being a fool in God’s eyes.

Prayer – Lord, your ways are higher than our ways. Let all of us defer to you, especially when we are emotional. Give us hearts that love others and hearts that only fear what you think of us. Amen.
