Scripture – ““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Observation – God wants us to to forget the former things and not to dwell on what happened yesterday or years ago. He is doing a new thing. If you pay attention you can sense it. He wants to take what is harmful and useless and make it beautiful and productive.
Application – If you keep doing what you are doing you will continue to get the same results. God has a plan for your life that is awesome and he wants to work through you to bless you and everyone around you. How does that happen? How can he take a “wasteland” of a life and make it healthy and live-giving? It all starts with repenting of your sins and placing your faith in Jesus, that he loved you so much he died in your place on a cross and rose from the dead so that you wouldn’t have to pay for your sins and so you could be with him in heaven when you die. Your life becomes better by spending time each day with God. By reading the Bible and investing time with other people who really love God he will take your life and radically transform it through the same power he used to bring Jesus back to life.
Prayer – Lord, thank you that we can change, that we aren’t imprisoned in an old way of doing things that causes us and those around us pain and sorrow. Lord I pray you do a new thing in billions of people’s lives this year. Amen.
