Scripture – “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,”
Ephesians 3:17-18 NIV
Observation – Paul is praying that Jesus would dwell in our hearts (live in our hearts) and that our lives would be rooted in love and that we would be able to grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Jesus is for us.
Application – It appears, by how we live, that most believers think that God likes them quite a bit, but they don’t live like he loves them with the type of love that surpasses all knowledge. Wouldn’t it be great to walk around all day with full confidence that God cares deeply for you, that he wants the best for you and to know that he will never leave you or forsake you. The Bible says we can have that relationship with God by spending time with him in prayer, memorizing his word, obeying his commands and trusting him with all of our heart instead of leaning on our own understanding. Today, when you don’t feel the love of God, tell him you trust him and spend extra time with him instead of living with the tension of doubting his care for you.
Prayer – Lord, I am a fragile human being that is prone to trust how I feel versus trusting the creator of the universe. I pray that your word and all the wonders you have done in my life would reign supreme in my spirit today. Amen
