Scripture – “The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”
Proverbs 12:15 NIV
Observation – Wise people desire to live disciplined prudent lives so they welcome other people’s opinions because it helps them make good decisions. Fools want to do what they have set their heart on and are offended when a wise person questions their plan, process or motive.
Application – Seeking wise counsel requires humility and time because listening, researching, and praying is a process that cannot be hurried. This is difficult for the person that believes they are intelligent and decisive. It is also foolish because taking time today to pray, seek wise counsel, look for circumstances and get neutral about your plans will ensure you are aligned with God and not making a mistake you will pay for later.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank you that we can come to you at all times and for giving us wise counselors to help us make good decisions that lead to life and not loss. Amen.
