Scripture – “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 8:12 NIV
Observation – In saying this Jesus was also saying that whoever didn’t follow him was living their life in darkness.
Application – The Bible says that every person on the planet has sinned and fallen short of what God desires for a person’s life. This sin separates us from having a relationship with God who is the source of life. From the world’s standards a person may be living a great life. They may be healthy, have a beautiful spouse and children, live in a nice home and have a respectable high paying career. They may be the nicest person you know. If they don’t know Jesus Christ as their savior they are walking in darkness. They don’t know themselves and they don’t know the God that made them and as a result they have missed out on the very purpose of their lives. When we have the light of Christ we understand who we are, that we need to forgiven and be reborn. Without this light we continue to stumble through this life.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, I pray that the people you have saved will be faithful in reaching those who are in darkness so they can have the light of life. Amen.
