Scripture – “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
John 6:35 NIV
Observation – If anyone else made this claim we would understand immediately that they were delusional. When Jesus says it we pause and ask ourselves what does he mean, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”?
Application – Jesus is claiming that just as bread satisfies our physical hunger and keeps us alive, he satisfies our spiritual hunger and gives us eternal life. The big questions of life such as how were we created and why are we here are all answered in Jesus. Jesus made us for him. He desires a personal relationship with every person on earth. Just as a person eats bread and drinks water to live, Jesus wants us to invite him into our lives so we can experience satisfaction, strength and fulfillment in him. If you don’t know Jesus this probably sounds like nonsense, I felt this way 30 years ago. If you humble yourself and truly seek him you will soon find out that whoever comes to him will never go hungry and whoever believes in him will never thirst.
Prayer – Jesus, I pray that you continue to pursue people so they can experience a God that loves them and provides for them in every area of their life and prepares them for eternity. Amen.
