Scripture – “He also hired a hundred thousand fighting men from Israel for a hundred talents of silver. But a man of God came to him and said, “Your Majesty, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the Lord is not with Israel—not with any of the people of Ephraim. Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.” Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied, “The Lord can give you much more than that.””

‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭25‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – This is a terrifying chapter in the Bible that shows what happens to a man when he chooses to honor God and when he chooses to turn his back on God. You should read the entire Chapter so that you can learn how God deals with a man because this is how he is going to deal with you. In the four verses above we are taught that we shouldn’t make an alliance with unholy people that aren’t walking with God because God is not with them, their downfall will be your downfall, think of Jake Spoon in Lonesome Dove.

Application – Who are you relying on for victory and success in your life. If you are a Christian and are teaming up with people that the Lord is not with you will experience some type of loss. You may make a lot of money but your intimacy with Jesus might be impacted. You could lose a lot of money or worse your reputation. God has a plan for you and that plan is to rely on him, not on the strength of people, organizations or companies that aren’t walking with him.

Prayer – Lord, you built us with a desire to succeed but our first and most precious victory is walking in obedience with you and trusting your ways. Don’t let us stumble with the wicked while we try and gain victory without you.
