Scripture – “John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – These three verses are from Chapter 1 of Revelation. John describes the eternal nature of Jesus; him who is, and who was and who is to come and then reminds us that Jesus is the firstborn from the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. He goes on to say that Jesus loves us and that we have been freed from our sins by his blood and he has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father.

Application – Because Jesus is the eternal God of the universe who loves us, died for us and rules the kings of the earth he has the authority to establish us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father. Do you see yourself as part of a kingdom? Do you see yourself as a royal priest that has been ordained by the creator to serve God. This is who Jesus says we are and because he has the authority to establish us, it is true. Walk out your calling today with confidence in the God who can strengthen you and fulfill the purpose for which you have been made.

Prayer – Lord, thank you for dying for us and putting us in positions of service to proclaim your holy name and invite others to experience your deep love for them. Amen.
