Scripture- “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”
Psalms 89:14 NIV
Observation – The writer is describing God’s character. He is telling us that the foundation of God’s throne is righteousness and justice. He is fair and impartial. He is loving and faithful which means we can rely on his grace and his promise to take care of us.
Application – How we view God will determine how we live in this world. Our expectations heavily influence our behavior. If we believe that God is good and rewards those who seek him and obey him our day will be filled with the pursuit of righteousness and love. If we believe that God is capricious we will approach life with the attitude that everything depends on us and that we have been left to fend for ourselves in a cruel world.
Prayer – Lord, you are righteous, just, loving and faithful. I pray that our decisions and actions would be based on this truth, not on our feelings or perceptions. Amen.
