Scripture – “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
1 John 1:8-10 NIV
Observation – If we consider ourselves good people that don’t sin we are lying to God, others and we are deceiving ourselves. If we view our lives from a proper perspective, God’s perspective, we will soon realize how far we have fallen short of what God created us to be and what he created us to do and how unbelievably judgmental and selfish we are. If we confess our sins he will forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness so we can live in fellowship with him. If you think you are doing pretty good in life you are most likely comparing yourself to your neighbors, friends and family and thinking you get a B+ or an A-. God doesn’t judge us based on how we are doing compared to the average person, God’s standard is much higher, God’s judges us based on the 10 commandments. If you have ever lied, stolen anything, taken the Lord’s name in vain or looked at a person that is not your spouse with lust you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer and on judgement day you will be condemned.
Application – Accept Jesus’ death on the cross for payment of your sins and give your life to him today. He loves you and died for you and wants to forgive you and give you eternal life. If you are reading this and have never trusted Jesus with your life you can do it right now. Tell him you are sorry for your sins and that you believe he died on the cross and shed his blood to pay for your sins. Ask him to come into your heart and promise to follow him all the days of your life. Jesus say, ““Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”

Prayer – Lord Jesus, I pray you open the eyes of every person in the world so they can see their need for you. I pray for anyone that accepted you as their savior today that you would put them in contact with someone that loves you so they can learn to walk with you everyday. Amen.
