Scripture – “When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭19‬:‭5‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – When Zacchaeus encountered Jesus, everything changed. He went from greedy to generous and from self-focused to others-focused.

The turning point is captured in his words: “Here and now…”

Not later. Not someday. Not when circumstances improve.

Right now.

His repentance wasn’t just emotional—it was measurable. His heart changed, and his actions followed immediately.

Application – It’s easy to have good intentions: to plan to be more generous, more faithful, more obedient—eventually. But Zacchaeus shows us that genuine repentance produces present obedience, not postponed promises.

If Jesus has truly changed our hearts, it will be visible in our lives—how we treat people, how we handle money, how we make decisions, and what we prioritize.

For those who have been blessed financially, like Zacchaeus, generosity becomes one of the clearest evidences of a transformed life. We give not to earn salvation, but because salvation has already changed us.

The question is simple and searching:

What is the “Here and now” step Jesus is calling you to take today?

Prayer – Lord, I pray that our testimony would be, “Look, Lord—here and now!”

Give us hearts that respond immediately to Your voice, not with excuses or delays, but with joyful obedience. Let our lives show clear evidence that You have changed us. Amen.
