Scripture – “Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”
Acts 11:25-26 NIV
Observation – Paul and Barnabas spent an entire year meeting with the church in Antioch. We aren’t told this was their plan when they arrived—and it’s unlikely they expected to stay that long. Yet God used their faithfulness and availability to teach a great number of people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
Application – How much time are you willing to commit to sharing the gospel and discipling young believers so they know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to teach others? Is there anything more important than investing in people for eternity?
Prayer – Lord Jesus, give us Your heart for the lost and for young believers. Help us deny ourselves, reorder our priorities, and joyfully serve and teach others for Your glory. Amen.
