Scripture – “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
Proverbs 25:2 NIV
Observation – God is deep and mysterious and wants us to apply our hearts and minds to understand how the world works and what he expects from us. This requires time, effort and a true desire to understand, not simply get a quick answer.
Application – When people ask a yes or no question they aren’t seeking to understand or go deeper they are looking to build a case for what they already believe. God is concealing matters to draw us into a relationship with him. The glory of men is in the pursuit, not the possession, of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Albert Einstein said, “the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know”. This level of humility provides us with a clear perspective of who we are in comparison to God. The wise person searches out matters, the fool says, “I’ve got this all figured out”.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, you have so much for each of us, give us humble hearts and a burning desire to know you better and to trust you and we make decisions each hour. Amen.
