Scripture – “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.”
Proverbs 21:30 NIV
Observation – If the thoughts and plans we have are not aligned with God’s will they will not succeed.
Application – We may experience financial success or get a “win” every once in a while when we operate outside of God’s will but it won’t last and, if you are a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit will convict you of your intentions and behavior. This is why God says earlier in chapter 21, “All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart”. God knows why you do what you do and say what you say, if you are doing it for selfish reasons and putting your needs ahead of God’s will you may succeed in the short term but sooner or later God will hold you accountable.
Prayer – Lord, we often come up with ideas and strategies that appear to be sound and promising but they conflict with you and we end up striving against you. Help us to come to you early and often so you can inspect our hearts and lead us on the righteous path. Amen.
