Scripture – Proverbs 17:16 “Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?”
Observation – How is money useful to a foolish person. They aren’t wise so they will most likely waste it or become so attached to it that they become paranoid and distrustful.
Application – You have heard it said that money amplifies your character. If you are arrogant and unpleasant before you obtain money you will become almost impossible to be around after you acquire some level of wealth. The fool believes that money is the answer to all of their problems in life and the path to peace and happiness. They have no room for God because their God is money. The wise person seeks God’s wisdom regarding how God wants them to live and the role money plays in their lives. The wise person makes money their servant and doesn’t allow it to become their master.
Prayer – Lord, your word says that wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter but the advantage of knowledge is this; that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor. Jesus give us a hearts that desires wisdom. Amen.
