Scripture – “He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises him.” Proverbs 14:2
Observation – When a person loves God they choose to do the right thing because they know doing the wrong thing, even if it benefits them, will disappoint God. A devious person despises God and God’s righteous ways and will do whatever benefits them in the moment because they don’t trust God to care for them, they feel they have to look out for themselves even if it hurts others.
Application – As you go through your day today God is going to give you many opportunities to walk uprightly and demonstrate that you both love him and fear him. Every time you choose to do the right thing, especially when it comes a a personal cost, you are showing God you trust him to supply your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Every time you choose deception or half truths you are telling God that you don’t believe he is powerful or that he cares for you.
Prayer – Lord, we live by faith, not by sight. Help our daily lives to reflect our trust in you and your provision. He who did not spare his son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also along with him, give us all things. Amen.
