Scripture – “So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.”
Acts 6:7 NIV
Observation- After rejecting Jesus when he was alive and performing miracles, Luke, in the Book of Acts, tells us a that a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. What happened right after Jesus’ death, as described in Matthew 27:51-53 may have contributed to many of these priests coming to faith, “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”
Application – Where are you in your obedience to the faith? What do you need to see or experience to believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior? Don’t give up your search or let what others have told you impact your decision. Seek the Lord with all your heart and he will be found by you.
Prayer – Lord God, I praise you that you don’t want anyone to perish but that all would come to know you and have eternal life. Amen.
