Scripture – “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – If you accept God’s word, memorize scripture, listen carefully to what you read, apply it to your life, if you pray with perseverance and search God’s word as if it is hidden treasure then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. You will know him!

Application – An honest question to ask yourself is, “do I really want to know Jesus and do his will?” This question, especially at the beginning of a new year is worth contemplating and spending time to determine your position. Some people want the benefits of being attached to Jesus but they don’t want the persecution. If the goal of our life to is know him deeper and to become more like him Proverbs 2:1-8 provides the outline of how to attain that goal. What do you want?

Prayer – Lord, I pray that every believer would call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding and look for you as for silver and search for you as they would for a hidden treasure. Nothing compares to the surpassing greatness of knowing you. Amen.
