Scripture – “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?”

‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God is a jealous for us just like a husband is for his wife and a wife is for her husband. If you love the things of this world more than you love God you will become an enemy of God, just like a husband will cause his wife to become his enemy if he commits adultery.

Application – One of the ways you can objectively measure your love for God versus your love of the world is to look at where you spend your money and where you spend your time. If you are neglecting tithing in favor of buying yourself things then you love the world more than you love God. If you skip reading the Bible and going to church so you can sleep in you love this world more than God.

Prayer – Lord you are jealous for us and I thank you for that. If we are loving the things of this world instead of loving you deal with us and get us back into a right relationship with you. Amen.
