Scripture – “Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Lord, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call!”
Psalms 20:6-9 NIV
Observation – The Lord answers those who love him and call on him when they are in trouble. Some people trust in human wisdom and earthly power but those who are committed to God trust him to protect and care for them.
Application – Call on the Lord and don’t ever quit. God loves you and has a plan for your life and he uses all kinds of circumstances to bring you into a closer relationship with him. James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” When you are in a difficult time call on the Lord and be like Jacob who wrestled with God and wouldn’t let him go until he blessed him. him. Our natural desire is to escape trials as quickly as possible, but a wiser prayer is: “Lord, teach me everything You want me to learn through this.” In doing so, we become people who stand strong and remain faithful. If we rush out too soon, we may miss the lesson and have to face it again. Let’s be committed to learning it well the first time.
Prayer – Lord, give us wisdom, patience, perseverance and, most of all, trust in you when we face trials. When you give us victory help us to give you praise. Amen.
