Scripture – “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?”
Romans 8:24 NIV
Observation – The hope that we have is that Jesus is going raise us from the dead and give us bodies that will be perfect and that we get to rule and reign with Jesus forever in a new heaven and a new earth. That hasn’t happened yet so we hope for it. When it happens we don’t hope for it anymore.
Application – The Kansas City Royals lost the 7th game of the World Series in 2014. In 2015 they beat the Mets and won in five games. The 5th game went into extra innings, as Royals fans watched that 5th game we hoped for a Championship. Ten years later, when I watch the highlights, I don’t hope for a win, I know what is going to happen. A lot of Christians don’t want to exercise their faith, they want to watch highlights. God is calling us to trust him and to live with so much certainty that we never doubt the outcome, but we live with such joy and anticipation that it brings him glory and gives others hope.
Prayer – Lord, I pray today that believers would live up to their name and believe. Amen.
