Scripture – “Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭4‬, ‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Verses 1-4 claim that wisdom is everywhere, that she is calling out, raising her voice to all mankind, she stands at the highest point in the city where paths meet so you can’t miss her, again she calls out to ALL mankind. Skipping to verse 11 God says that wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Application – In conversations with family, friends and colleagues we have discussed these verses and the question around the table is, “is wisdom that obvious?” “Is it easy to know the right thing to do and the best course of action to take” I’ve been having this conversation for months and didn’t have clarity on it until this morning. One of the keys to making good decisions is the acknowledgment that doing the right thing has to be more important than the benefits you are receiving. If you believe that money is more beneficial than the right thing to do your vision will be clouded and wisdom will be elusive.

Prayer – Lord Jesus I pray you help each of us seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness so that we are able to make wise decisions that please you. Amen.
