Scripture – “Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31
Observation – In this Chapter God describes the traits of a wife of noble character. He ends the chapter stating that the praise she hears from others and the reward she receives is based on her production and what she does, not because of charm and beauty.
Application – Our salvation is based on grace through faith but God created us to do good works which he has prepared in advance for us to do, see Ephesians 2:8-10. He also emphasizes throughout scripture that he wants us to work with all of our heart at whatever we do, work with excellence and he promises that, “All hard work brings a profit but mere talk leads only to poverty” Proverbs 14:23. Do you feel as if you are not receiving praise and rewards? Maybe you need to work harder.
Prayer – Lord, I pray for energy and enthusiasm today so that I can work hard and do a good job. Amen.
