Scripture – “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Paul is explaining that people have exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped objects made by man instead of worshipping the God that made man.

Application – Scripture teaches that man was created to worship God. Just as we have natural desires to eat, protect ourselves and our families, seek success and pursue a partner, God created us with the desire to worship him. When natural desires are improperly pursued the results are dangerous and painful; eating becomes gluttony, protection results in isolation and paranoia, success turns to greed and sexual relationships end in unwanted pregnancy, diseases, shattered self-esteem and promiscuity. When we exchange the truth of God for a lie and worship created things we place ourselves above God and become the arbiters of truth and do what is right in our own eyes. We justify our sins based on our feelings and we are cut off from the source of life. Jesus says that true worshippers worship in Spirit and in truth. If you don’t know the one true God pursue him and find out that he is good.

Prayer – Lord, there are a lot of replacements for you in this world and the results aren’t good. I pray that people would seek you with all their heart so that you could lift them up and give them a life of peace and purpose. Amen.
