Scripture – “Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Some people call this Karma, God refers to it as the principle of sowing and reaping. If a person lives a sinful life they will find themselves in constant trouble. In contrast, the person that lives a righteous life (doing what is right) will be rewarded with good things.

Application – Proverbs 4:19 states “But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.” If you feel like no matter what you do something bad happens, as if trouble is pursuing you, and you don’t know why, consider this verse. God says that the wicked stumble in this life but they are blinded to the reasons why life is so difficult. When things are hard in life and nothing seems to go your way it doesn’t automatically mean you are living a sinful life. It may be the exact opposite, that you are being persecuted because of your righteousness. I can speak to my own experiences, in that most of my problems, difficulties and mental anguish come from poor decisions and a thought life that isn’t aligned with God. When I confess these sins and ask God to fill me with his Spirit I find that life is calm and peaceful. Audit your behavior and see if God is showing you an area that requires humility and repentance.

Prayer – Lord, we don’t want to be pursued by trouble, I pray you open our eyes so we can confess our sins and be purified from all unrighteousness.
