Scripture – “Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil. Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”
Proverbs 15:16-17 NIV
Observation – You are much better off in this world with a deep love for God and people than you are with a wallet full of money and a heart full of hatred.
Application – The question a person must ask themselves is what price they are willing to pay to gain wealth and the risk involved in investing the vast majority of your time chasing success as opposed to building a strong relationship with God and your family. It appears that many men will sacrifice a relationship with God, their wives and children in order to acquire wealth and many women will sacrifice raising their children in exchange for a more comfortable life style. The stress of working long hours and exchanging time with God and family for money takes its toll on one’s life.
Prayer – Lord your word says that Godliness with contentment is great gain for we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. Help us to live lives of significance that brings peace and love rather than turmoil and hatred.
