Scripture – “what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.”
John 10:36-39 NIV
Observation – The Jews are asking Jesus to claim that he is the Messiah. He replies that he did tell them and asks why they are accusing him of blasphemy by saying he is God’s Son. They aren’t listening and just want to kill him so Jesus pleads with them to consider all the miracles he is doing so that they might believe and have eternal life.
Application – How hard is Jesus working to prove to you that he is who he says he is? Do doubts rise up in heart and your mind frequently? Do you give in to them or do you go back to scripture and read about all that Jesus did and all the claims that he made about himself. Don’t rely on your feelings, go back to the perfect word of God and be strengthened by the truth.
Prayer – Lord, you are good, thank you for pursuing us so that we can know you and live with peace and purpose without fear and doubt. Amen.
