Scripture – “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.”
Proverbs 12:1 NIV
Observation – Disciplined people love the truth and want to do things the right way so when someone tells them there is a better way they patiently listen, evaluate if what they have been told is correct and change their ways based on this new information. A stupid person gets angry when they are told the truth, they hate correction and would rather be right in their own eyes rather than humble themselves and do the right thing.
Application – Are you willing to consider that the beliefs you hold about the world we live in may be wrong. If a person shares new information that challenges what you think, or how you do things, are you open to change? Do you love knowledge and truth? If someone disagrees with your position do you become angry and frustrated? If so you may be stupid, the solution to this is to humble yourself under God’s mighty hand so he can lift you up.
Prayer – God, give us humble hearts and a such a strong desire for the truth that we are willing to admit we are wrong and change as opposed to embracing falsehood.
